Numina Group Adds Labor Management Module and Dynamic SKU Slotting Analytics to Open Platform Voice Picking

Numina Group Adds Labor Management Module and Dynamic SKU Slotting Analytics to Open Platform Voice Picking

Woodridge, IL (PRWEB) February 16, 2011

Numina Group’s (http://www.numinagroup.com), full product line of pre-developed software modules and automation technologies is dedicated to optimizing the pick, pack, and ship process. Enhancing their multi-modal Pick Execution™, which already has pick to light, voice picking, and an RF based system, to include labor management and velocity based SKU picking analytics, continues their tradition of providing cutting edge value based solutions to material handling and distribution center operations. “The addition of real-time labor management and SKU velocity based picking analytics provides clients a solution that delivers a far higher return on investment. Pick Execution™ not only automates the pick and pack process; it provides the tools to increase the profitability of the overall order fulfillment process,” explains Dan Hanrahan, president of Numina Group.

The automation module can support all three picking methods simultaneously so the system easily adapts to the customer’s requirements. The voice application is delivered on a thin client terminal such as Motorola’s WT4090 VOW or LXE’s HX3, both simple, rugged terminals designed specifically for multi-modal voice-directed applications. When equipped with a hands free, back of wrist CCD blue-tooth scanner; the SKU, serial number or lot tracking barcode capture occurs simultaneously to fully automate Pick/Pack order validation.

Multi-modal voice directed picking provides the greatest productivity increase and highest level of accuracy. “Adding our Labor Management Module and SKU Velocity Analytics boosts voice picking by adding the operational tools for continuous process improvement, such as re-slotting higher movers in to ‘golden zones’ and optimizing the picking walk path to reduce order fulfillment labor”, stated Hanrahan.

Numina Group’s Pick Execution™ is developed in Java for platform, database, and OS independence. The voice application resides on the server and requires only the voice recognition engine deployed as a thin client on the terminal. The voice application, commands, and responses all reside on the server in SQL database tables; lowering costs by simplifying a large percentage of the application development to simple table configurations.

Additionally, server based software architecture simplifies support and provides scalability, while lowering the overall cost of ownership. “It opens up the opportunity to deploy the voice application as a Virtual Server/ Cloud Computer Architecture supporting thousands of distributed users from a single server or essential Voice as a Service,” explains Rick Ernst, PHD. , Vice President of Software Development at Numina Group.

Numina Group will be demonstrating their advanced solutions for material handling and distribution center operations at ProMat 2011, booth #4234. ProMat 2011 is an MHIA International Expo, held at McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois, from March 21-24.

About Numina Group

Warehouse and distribution automation requirements such as picking, order auditing, print and apply labeling, sorting, and manifesting require application know-how, proven real-time software, and high quality equipment – exactly what the Numina Group delivers! Since 1986, the Numina Group has supplied Warehouse Control for Pick, Pack, and Ship Automation proven to improve the order fulfillment process. The systems and products they supply combine high performance software and application expertise to eliminate “bottlenecks”, reduce labor, and increase revenues to allow clients to gain a competitive advantage in the markets they serve.

Barcode Scanner/Reader

These days Bar code scanner is an essential tools in today’s fast business. Big and small establishments started rely on bar code scanners due to it’s quicker, convenient, and efficient operations.Importance of a BARCODE SCANNER cannot be denied now a days. No matter whether you’re having a commercial establishment or a public or private sector company or a library or a school etc. a bar code reader would do wonders for your daily operations.

Either you have to organizing your database or maintain records of your inventory, monitor and track the movement of items a bar code reader would be helpfull to you .

Not all barcode readers fullfil your requirements, so, you have to analyse your particular needs and have to pay much attention in the choice of the right bar code reader for your establishments.

A CCD (charged coupled device) bar code reader use of light emitted from the numerous light sensors in the barcodes which the bar code reader would encode and decode for identification and verification. CCD bar code reader is best for tracking the movement of supplies and tools, also permanent identification tags for employees and students.

1D bar code scanner, is more effective for it’s wide scale operations. Why? Single layer Bar code is more effective than the double layered inscriptions of 2D bar codes.

1D bar code reader is an important, and perfect, tool for retail establishments due to moving of items through a counter more frequently in minutes. 1D bar code reader is a device which can use to watch the movement of items.

These days 2D and 1D barcode readers are most popular in the market 2D bar code readers for 2D bar codes and 1D bar code readers for 1D bar codes.

In several organisation or retailers commonly use Portable 1D BARCODE READER. Since a 1D bar code reader is generally manufactured for a market that experiences brisk operations, it is easy to assume that the sheer transportability of these portable 1D bar code readers make them more appealing to their target audience.

The 1D bar code reader can also come in the form of scanner-type.

Some are thinking that the 1D bar code design would soon become obsolete. This fear is unacceptable.

Due to huge market for 1D bar code readers there will always be a need for a 1D barcode.

This is a true fact that 1D bar code readers are cheaper than other types of this device.

Symagery Introduces Version 8.0 Software Development Suite for OEMs in Auto ID and Data Capture Industry

Symagery Introduces Version 8.0 Software Development Suite for OEMs in Auto ID and Data Capture Industry

OTTAWA (PRWEB) May 22, 2004 -

Designed for Use with Symagery Image Reading Systems to Provide OEMs With Powerful and Flexible Tools to Customize Image-based Products. Symagery today announced Version 8.0 of its software development suite for use in conjunction with its image reading systems by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the automatic ID and data capture industry (AIDC).

Version 8.0 of Symagery’s software development suite allows OEMs to develop and customize information capture products using Symagery’s image-based systems. These systems include high-performance image engines and processor boards designed for integration into hand-held or fixed-mount scanners, portable data collection terminals, mobile computers and kiosks.

The new software suite offers OEMs the tools necessary to create and customize their end-user products to meet very specific application requirements. These product offerings are commonly used in the transportation and logistics, manufacturing, postal, gaming and lottery; healthcare and retail industries. Symagery’s software development suite contains the libraries and sample applications with the source code required to integrate its systems into customer devices on the Windows CE or Windows CE.NET platforms. The software suite enables a rapid time to market and a low-risk integration path.

A key new feature of Version 8.0 is the ability for users to create their own customized preset modes for viewing images in a specific environment and application. This is important because now users can modify, for example, the exposure, gain and illumination parameters to suit their particular environment. Users can then save these parameters as a “mode” that can be recalled and used at a later date. Symagery will be providing customers with sample modes, common to several applications.

Another key feature of Version 8.0 is the view finder, a small ‘pop-up’ window that users can activate to show a regularly refreshed image of whatever is currently being captured. This is beneficial to developers because users can look at the view finder to make sure all the parameters are appropriate for the information that is being captured. If changes are required, developers can adjust parameters in Symagery’s Image Reader application and then save them as a defined, preset mode.

“Version 8.0 offers our OEM customers the freedom to customize and easily configure our imaging systems through an open architecture development kit,” said Ron Caines, president and CEO of Symagery. “This gives our OEM customers the ability to turn their imaging system into a powerful, flexible enabling technology platform and offers a competitive edge over standard laser, CCD, VGA-based imagers and other data capture solutions.”

Version 8.0 of Symagery’s software development kit is available at the end of May 2004.

About Symagery

Symagery (http://www.symagery.com) is a global provider of advanced image reader systems for the automatic identification and data capture industry. Founded in Ottawa, Canada, in 1997, Symagery differentiates its offerings by selling exclusively to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Within an open, collaborative environment, Symagery’s customers can customize its solutions to meet their industry-specific needs.

Unlike other imaging providers, Symagery offers the industry’s highest resolution and largest field of view for maximum efficiency and productivity. And unlike linear laser offerings that can only read individual, 1D barcodes in one orientation, Symagery’s omni-directional solutions are multipurpose, read several types of bar codes per label in a single scan and are reliable in any environment. Symagery’s technology is embedded in scanners, portable data terminals, mobile computers, kiosks and machine vision applications. Its solutions are meeting the needs of the transportation and logistics, manufacturing, postal, gaming and lottery; healthcare and retail industries. Among its customers are Siemens Dematic, Unitech, Sammi and Psion Teklogix.

VitreoQR, LLC, in Association With DENSO, the Inventors of QR Code Technology, Announces the Deployment of the Definitive QR Code Webinar

VitreoQR, LLC, in Association With DENSO, the Inventors of QR Code Technology, Announces the Deployment of the Definitive QR Code Webinar

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) May 25, 2011

VitreoQR, the Premier North American distributor for DENSO QR Code® software solutions, announced a four-part webinar series that will focus on the essentials of QR Code technology. The webinars will explore ISO compliance specifications, security of QR Code content, liability of URL shorteners, the ease and importance of mobile optimization, and how to employ analytics to measure the success of a campaign.

The QR Code is a two-dimensional barcode that can hold many times more information than one-dimensional barcodes. The QR Code is increasingly appearing in advertising as well as on signs, posters, business cards and a wide array of other items. By scanning a QR Code with a smart phone, consumers can be directed to a specific web page or receive targeted messages such as a special offer, discount coupon, product or store information, etc.

“We are inundated every day with phone calls from people across the country wanting to get credible and accurate information about how to use QR Code technology, what the best practices are, and how to create campaigns that are secure and successful,” said Michael Balas, founder and CEO of VitreoQR. “This webinar series is specifically designed to communicate the advantages of using specialized software when creating QR Codes to protect an organization and it’s brand, from security breaches and deliver campaigns with concrete ROI. DENSO is the inventor of QR Codes, and since VitreoQR is DENSO’s Premier Distributor in the U.S. and Canada, people are coming to us to learn about DENSO technology.”

“The webinar will cover the four cornerstones of a successful QR Code deployment,” added Dave Wickman, Co-Founder and CTO. “These cornerstones are QR Code compatibility: using URL shorteners, optimizing content for peak performance for a mobile device and using statistics to compare campaigns for maximum success.”

The first of the four webinars will be held on Thursday, June 2nd, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., EDT, and the remaining webinars will take place at the same time on the three succeeding Thursdays, June 9th, June 16th and June 23rd. For more information, visit http://vqr.co/webinar.

Retailers to Send up to 3 Billion ‘Mobile Coupons’ to Phone Users by 2011, According to Juniper Research

Retailers to Send up to 3 Billion ‘Mobile Coupons’ to Phone Users by 2011, According to Juniper Research

Hampshire, UK (PRWEB) April 23, 2008

New figures from analyst firm Juniper Research estimate that almost 3 billion mobile coupons will be issued to Mobile Users by 2011, with just under $ 7 billion of discounts redeemed.

The new Juniper study finds that mobile coupons are becoming an increasingly important tool for brand owners and retailers to provide a `push to purchase’ capability for mobile marketing and advertising campaigns. The key issues driving the move to mobile coupons include:

    Cost savings on campaigns
    An increase in ARPU
    One-2-one marketing opportunities
An increase in customer retention for mobile operators – lower churn
    Higher conversion rates
The expansion of mobile value added services
    Reduced fraud

However, Juniper identified some notable challenges for the sector, including a hesitancy from some retailers to adopt mobile coupons. In addition, some retailers would have to change from using laser scanners to optical readers that use the required CCD, technology to read barcodes, especially 2D barcodes from mobile phones.

Other key findings from the report include:

2.6 billion mobile tickets set to be delivered by 2011
Early use of mobile barcode technology will be gradually complimented by the emergence of NFC (Near Field Communication)
A total of almost $ 87 billion worth of mobile ticketing transactions by 2011

Juniper Research defines a mobile coupon as “a coupon sent and stored on a mobile phone that can be exchanged for a rebate, a financial discount etc. at a retailer when the consumer purchases a product.” When compared to their paper cousins, mobile coupons offer a number of distinct advantages allowing the coupon issuer a direct connection between themselves and the consumer using the coupon.

Juniper Research illustrates the current and near-future status of mobile ticketing and coupons with analysis and interviews from representatives of some of the leading organisations in the growing mobile ticket and coupon industry.
