Maxatec Launches a New Impact, Dot Matrix Clamshell Receipt Printer
Maxatec Launches a New Impact, Dot Matrix Clamshell Receipt Printer
Altrincham, Cheshire (PRWEB) December 19, 2008
Maxatec launches its own high speed clamshell receipt printer, the Maxatec MD-500 Impact Dot Matrix Clamshell Receipt Printer.
Andrea Percival, director of Maxa Technologies (Maxatec), said, “In the current demanding marketplace, dot matrix receipt printers need to be super efficient, fast and cost-effective, so we had to produce something exceptional to answer these needs. The MD-500 is ideal for receipt printing in the retail and hospitality sectors, and is ideal for use as a kitchen printer. It is a robust, high performance impact receipt printer which is very easy to use.”
Whilst the market continues to move away from impact dot matrix printing, there is still a wide demand for this printing technology in environments where thermal printing technology is not the first choice. For example, kitchen printing is a typical application for the new MD-500 due to the warm environment, which may affect print quality or longevity of print. Other areas include dry cleaning applications and ‘kitchen’ environments within the take-away sector (pizza orders and Chinese take-aways for example). We feel that the product we have brought to market will match the success of the Maxatec single station thermal printers and will enhance our product offering to our reseller base.
The new MD-500 printer is fast and easy to use, with a clamshell design making the printer exceptionally easy for the user to load paper. A print speed of 5 lines per second makes the MD-500 one of the fastest impact dot matrix printers on the market today. The printer can print one, two or three ply receipts with two colour printing; black/purple and black/red. The MD-500 is compact with a neat footprint for limited desktop space, or can be wall mounted for easy access. The auto cutter is a guillotine and has a lifespan of 1,000,000 cuts, the printer memory comes standard at 1Mb SDRAM and 4Mb Flash, with an option for upgrade if required. The MD-500 also has two 24v cash drawer drivers and it supports various interfaces including: Serial (RS-232C), Parallel (Centronics, USB, Combo (USB+Serial), Ethernet and Wireless Lan. The printer comes with industry standard emulations for easy plug and play installations.

Ricoh Dynamic Capture Digital Camera Solution Helps Revolutionize Insurance Contents Restoration Industry
Ricoh Dynamic Capture Digital Camera Solution Helps Revolutionize Insurance Contents Restoration Industry
(PRWEB) June 8, 2010
Founded in 2009, iCAT Solutions Inc. was developing a software solution for the field of contents restoration where an in-depth study, combined with key strategic relationships, helped iCAT in identifying deep process inefficiencies, unnecessary business costs, and poor information management systems as areas where technology could provide answers. The Pack-Out process, for most companies, required a camera on-site to capture images of the items being collected for cataloging, and those cameras broke frequently as a result of the harsh environment. The pack-out process also required detailed information gathering: key information about items (including serial numbers, related accessories, brands and models), the state they were found in, what type of item they were (electronics, clothing, furniture etc) and where they were packed and stored for shipment to the cleaning facility. The process was incredibly time intensive and most industry insiders confessed to skipping certain details in order to speed up their process.
SOLUTIONS
iCAT Solutions Inc. made contact with a Ricoh’s digital camera division who immediately identified the Caplio 500SE model as an impact resistant product that could not only endure the sometimes harsh working conditions of a Pack-Out environment, but also address other hardware shortcomings which existed in the Pack-Out process. Utilizing Ricoh’s patented memo field technology, iCAT was able to work exclusively with Ricoh to design a process which captured key cataloging details the industry required using only the Caplio 500SE Digital Camera. With its best in class – shift on the fly – macro technology, users can easily document detailed information with exacting clarity up to 1cm. Users can further qualify pictures with a voice memo. Ricoh’s voice tag technology embeds the voice memo directly into the image file. After fitting the Caplio 500SE to include an optic barcode scanner, the user can capture available barcode information using the ‘quick fire’ integrated scanner. Finally, when synced with the iCAT Software Solution via USB or integrated Bluetooth connection, the barcode information captured further allowed users to leverage the entire Pack-Out details gathered with the Ricoh Caplio 500SE Camera throughout their operation cycle in a simple, logical, and on demand system.
MEASURED RESULTS
Ricoh’s exclusive memo field technology, which includes voice tagging and barcode recognition, allowed workers to give unique identities to every item being cataloged with only a few clicks of the camera.
iCAT Solutions Inc. worked with their industry specialists to introduce their merged technology solution and measured its direct impact on operations over a number of months. Some key measurable have resulted. Monthly budget for replacement cameras have been reduced from $ 350 to $ 0. Cataloguing time at a job site has been reduced by more than 55%. Customer satisfaction measurements improved by 96% as a result having on-demand detailed pack-out information.

Quatech Announces Windows NT Support for Serial USB Adapters; Expands Line with 8 and 16 Port Units
Quatech Announces Windows NT Support for Serial USB Adapters;
Expands Line with 8 and 16 Port Units
(PRWEB) July 22, 2001
Akron OH, July 20–Quatech Inc., a leading manufacturer of data communication and data acquisition products for PC-based systems, today introduced Windows NT 4.0 support for its entire line of RS-232 and RS-422/485 serial USB Adapters. The company is also expanding their offerings by adding units that provide eight or sixteen legacy serial ports via a single USB port. With this announcement, Quatech’s serial USB line not only becomes one of the most complete in the industry, but the company also becomes one of only a few suppliers to offer NT support for USB serial adapters.
Part of the FreedomUSBTM Series, the adapters allow legacy serial devices such as scanners, bar-code readers, printers, touch-screens, modems, card-readers, etc. to be used in new systems via the USB port just as they were used in previous systems employing older bus standards.
The new adapters accommodate a wide variety of system requirements. The ESU-100 provides eight RS-232 serial ports, the HSU-100 provides sixteen RS-232 serial ports, and the ESU-200/300 and HSU-200/300 respectively provide eight and sixteen ports, each configurable as RS-422 or RS-485. RS-422/485 adapters are configurable for full-duplex or half-duplex operation.
All Quatech serial USB adapters enumerate themselves as standard COM ports, and can transfer data at speeds up to 460.8 kbps-a significant improvement over the 115.2 kbps maximum for a standard serial port. The adapters are equipped with 16550 UARTs containing 16-byte FIFOs. These FIFOs, along with the FIFOs in the USB microcontroller, help relieve the CPU of excessive interrupts by buffering received and transmitted data, making Quatech USB adapters ideal choices for heavy multi-tasking environments.
Quatech serial USB adapters offer several attractive features that make them particularly convenient and easy to use. The adapters provide multiple ports via a single box with easily accessible connections. All the adapters are bus powered, so no external power supply is needed-an unusual feature in adapters providing such a large number of ports. In addition to the new Windows NT support, support is also provided under Windows 98/Me/2000.
Quatech’s FreedomUSB Series of USB serial and parallel adapters, card readers, extenders, and hubs was created around the principle that taking advantage of new technology should not require users to abandon their investment in legacy devices and the applications written for them. The FreedomUSB line provides users the freedom to implement the system they want with the resources they have and the code they have created. Users have the freedom to use USB enabled devices with non-USB devices, to transfer data between USB compliant and non USB compliant computers, and to expand a computer’s built-in USB ports to accommodate large numbers of USB and legacy serial devices. Complete details and product specifications for Quatech’s entire FreedomUSB Series can be found on their website (http://www.quatech.com/freedomusb.htm).
Quatech’s new serial USB adapters are priced as follows:
ESU-100-8 port RS-232 to USB adapter–$ 399
ESU-200/300-8 port RS-422/485 to USB adapter–$ 429
HSU-100-16 port RS-232 to USB adapter–$ 799
HSU-200/300-16 port RS-422/485 to USB adapter–$ 829.
All Quatech serial USB adapters shipped after July 25, 2001 will be available with the NT drivers. Current customers can request the NT drivers by completing the online request form (http://www.quatech.com/usbNT.htm) or by calling Quatech’s technical support department at 330-434-3154. For more information about the NT drivers, Quatech’s FreedomUSB Series, or any other Quatech product, please call 1-800-553-1170 and talk with a sales engineer about your application, email sales@quatech.com, or visit Quatech’s website at http://www.quatech.com.

1-Click Scanning to Google Docs(TM) Now Available with Release of BulletScan(TM) Manager 2.0 from iVina
1-Click Scanning to Google Docs(TM) Now Available with Release of BulletScan(TM) Manager 2.0 from iVina
Milpitas, CA (PRWEB) August 3, 2010
One-click scanning to Google Docs and high-end image processing are now available in one package with the release of BulletScan Manager 2.0 from iVina, Inc. iVina, a leading innovator of document imaging solutions, announced today the immediate availability of this innovative software bundled across its entire scanner product line.
BulletScan-to-Google Docs
One of the most important new capabilities of BulletScan Manager 2.0 is its 1-Click BulletScan-to-Google Docs feature which enables one-click scanning to Google Docs via a preset button on the scanner. BulletScan-to-Google Docs eliminates over 10 steps in the scanning process to a single step saving users time and increasing productivity dramatically. Now small and medium sized businesses can enjoy the considerable cost savings and productivity gains of using Google Docs to create, collaborate and share documents – both electronically generated and now paper-based. Google Docs is part of the Google APPs suite and is free to Gmail account users.
“BulletScan Manager 2.0 has an innovative architecture, specifically targeting the SMB space, which has historically been underserved by document scanner vendors,” said Ralph Gammon, Editor and Publisher of The Document Imaging Report. “The software piggy-backs on the trend toward cloud computing by offering single-click scanning to Google Docs. iVina also incorporates several advanced image processing features in its BulletScan line and makes them accessible through an easy to manage interface. Overall, iVina offers a range of easy-to-use, advanced devices, priced at less than $ 500. This makes the BulletScan product line an affordable and productive alternative in the SMB space, where companies are constantly being charged with doing more with less.”
Extensible Links Architecture
BulletScan Manager 2.0 has a new extensible links architecture that enables scanning to a wide variety of applications and devices via a single click.
1-Click BulletScan-to-iBooks allows users to incorporate paper-based documents right into their iPhone/iPad viewing experience. And 1-Click BulletScan-to-YouSendIt enables very large files, confidential documents and legal contracts to be scanned and shared easily for remote collaboration. “Leveraging cloud-based applications into a single-click BulletScan solution has eliminated many of the IT costs that the SMB market could not afford to support.”, said Murray L. Dennis, President of iVina. “Real estate and insurance agents, accountants, sales professionals and medical offices are examples of the many businesses that can benefit from the productivity gains of the BulletScan product line.”
Other Key New Features of BulletScan Manager 2.0
Easy & Advanced Scan Modes.
Easy Mode allows users to customize the buttons, including scan profiles, destination applications, and how files are stored and named all on one intuitive screen.
Advanced Mode allows users greater control over the scan process, including OCR features, compression features, custom file naming, and advanced scan settings through a series of easy to understand screens.
Auto Enhancements.
BulletScan Manager 2.0 now automatically straightens, crops, detects color, blank pages and orients documents to text on-the fly.
Advanced Image Processing
BulletScan Manager 2.0 provides several image processing features that include custom file naming, barcode detection, barcode recognition, advanced batch separation, image stitching, custom color dropout and blank page removal.
Leading Third Party Software Included
In addition to BulletScan Manager 2.0, the BulletScan product line ships with 3 industry-leading applications: ABBYY FineReader™ Technology for unmatched OCR accuracy reduces the size of the resulting searchable PDF without loss of visual quality, and retains text-under-image, text-over-image, text and pictures, or image-only PDFs. The Fine Reader technology also recognizes multilingual documents and can automatically detect English, French, Italian, German and Spanish documents.
NewSoft Presto! PageManager is a fully-featured document management program that lets users easily file, organize and retrieve all their scanned documents.
And NewSoft Presto! BizCard Reader is a complete business card reading and contact management solution that lets users scan, edit and synchronize business cards in one click to leading contact management applications including ACT!, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook and can export to vCard or CSV format.

This will allow you to browse through our wallpaper collection on your computer, and instanly open and update the wallpapers on your Droid. Steps: 1) Generate QR Code 2) Scan using QR Code reader; such as Barcode Scanner or QR Droid 3) Open Wallpaper 4) Long-Press and select “Set As Wallpaper…” 5) That’s It!
